   5. New Business

Minutes note: This item was taken up first on the agenda. Milwaukee Public Library Plans Ms. Paul Kiely, Library Director, and Jennifer Meyers Sterns were present on this item. The library is seeking to use $50,000 in capital funds for public art to move a price of sculpture from the Mill Road Library to the new Good Hope Library. They have $25,000 in funds from last year and $25,000 for this year. The sculpture is very large and installation will be expensive and a companion piece will be created. The outdoor area where the sculptures will be located is for outdoor programming. The Subcommittee encouraged the library to come to them with projects for Conservation funds, which must be used for outdoor public art. Ms. Morris made a motion to release the $50,000 for the library to pursue public art at the new Good Hope Library. Sculptures at the former Cargilll site in the Menomonee Valley There was an article in Urban Milwaukee that the Potawatomi are giving away five sculptures at this location as long as the new owner is willing to move the sculpture. Ms. Kiely and Ms. Meyers Sterns thought that 3 of the 5 sculptures might be appropriate for a library and they have five parking lots in which sculptures could be located.
