Mr. Mahan introduced Mr. Mike Peeples
Mr. Mahan guided the council to understand the process of Request For Proposal (RFP) to allocate reprogramming funds in the area of Youth Services. Mr. Mahan reviewed the listing of areas of interest to consider that council put together at the last meeting:
Community service
Organizing
Education
Literacy
Sexual Education/Harassment
under potential Youth Services Topics were:
Education Crime and Prevention and Personal Development
Civic Engagment/Community Service
Recreation
Employment Services
Some of the elements pointed out by the CDGA staff that need to be consider when selecting a topic are evaluation for the program, how can the program effectiveness be measure, how is the data been captured. Capacity as to how will the money increase the agency's capacity. Organizational capacity and interest, which existing organizations currently work around the issue of interest for allocation.
Members agree to target High School age youth in the area of Healthy Lifestyle/Nutrition. Mr. Mahan said that CDGA office can customize the application to fit the requirements of the youth council.
Projected meeting to interview agencies will be June 3, 2019.
