Minutes note: Mr. Owczarski said that several members of the Common Council have an interest in having the Youth Council go on record with respect to two dates; March 14, 2018 Walk Out Day in memory of those victims who lost their lives to gun violence; and offer support of the March 24, 2018, "Walk for Our Lives" march In Washingotn DC. support by way of a resolution that can be approved at a Youth Council formal meeting on March 14, 2018. An Special extra meeting would not be needed for March 7. Members outlined what resolution should contained by the following points: 1. Urge non-discipline for the Walk Out on March 14, 2018 2. Address mental Health Care 3. Freedom of speech/assembly 4. Gun laws - teacher should not be armed or cohorced to be - individual under 21 - better mental health reviews socially sensitive - rational conversation regarding guns - parental guidance - domestic violence After these points were discussed and agreed upon, the Legislative Reference Bureau will formulate a DRAFT resolution to be reviewed by Youth Council members and presented at the next Youth Council Formal Meeting for approval.
