Minutes note: Appearing: Ms Bevan Christie - EYAAC Strategy and Systems Support Mr. Darryl Davidson - Office of African American Affairs Dr Gabriel Velez - Marquette Center for Urban Research Teaching and Outreach Ms. Bevin Christie offered a historical background of the originally formed Black Male Achievement Advisory Council now the Emerging Youth Achievement Advisory Council (EYAAC) with the purpose to advance the City’s commitment to youth and young adult well-being. Ms. Christie will ensure the implementation and oversight of strategies that improve life outcomes for Milwaukee youth and young adults across systems. Mr. Darryl Davidson gave a little bit of background relative to the Office of African American Affairs established in 2016, dedicated to advancing equity and expanding the opportunities of African American residents in Milwaukee, with a broad reach in many different focus areas, including housing, jobs, education, voting rights, business, health care. Much is done in the structure located in 48th and Fond DuLac Ave building, it operates with a collective HUB model that allows residents to access quality of life resources. Some activities are the Fatherhood Coalition, that promotes positive involvement of both parents in the lives of their children through collaborative partnerships. Mr. Gabriel Velez has been helping oversee the research committee with My Brother's Keeper (MBK), this works falls under the Marquette Center for Urban Research, Teaching and Outreach, this center is committed to bringing the in-house expertise, including faculty and students, to the Milwaukee community in supporting different types of projects with the focus on human rights and dignity.

     3. Office of Community Wellness and Safety (OCWS)

Minutes note: Appearing: Ms. Karin Tyler - Business Operation Manager Mr. Feras Rizeq - Epidemiologist for OCWS Ms. Jasmine Morton - Manage for RECAst Program Ms. Karin Tyler said that the mission of the Office of Community Wellness and Safety is to prevent and reduce violence through partnerships that strengthen youth, families, and neighborhoods. The Office begin in 2008 with its focus, primarily on gender based violence, then expanded to community violence prevention. Office launched several programs and initiatives including, Blueprint for Peace and ReCast grant to name a few. This office has three streets outreach initiatives: Promise Keeper, Critical Response Team, and 414Life. the group continue giving a brief historical and anecdotal testimonies of the work this office is doing.

     4. Coalition to Advance Public Safety (CAPS) Presentation

Askew - Portland The Coalition to Advance Public Safety (CAPS) is a collaborative effort focused on reducing near-term violence by expanding and strengthening the community violence intervention (CVI) ecosystem. We partner with cities and direct service providers on the frontlines to provide: Assessment, Technical Assistance, Coordination, Narrative Change and Grant Funding. The goal over the next five years is to contribute to reduce gun violence by 10-20% CVI focuses on stopping violence in the near term (1-3 years), using harm and gun violence reduction strategies to provide interpersonal supports and ongoing wraparound services to individuals at the highest risk.
