231972 01.ResolutionSubstitute resolution assigning the honorary street name "Rev. Bobby L. Sinclair" to North 18th Street from West Vienna Avenue to West Capitol Drive in the 6th Aldermanic District.

Minutes note: The nominator was not present. Mr Benson knew Mr. Sinclair very well and he was loved by his congregation and his family was firefighters. Mr. Marti noted it's a 2-block stretch with 4 signs and the department has no issues. Mr. Harpole moved, seconded by Mr. Benson, for approval. Prevailed unanimously.

231973 02.ResolutionSubstitute resolution assigning the honorary street name "James (JL) Davis" to North 22nd Street from West Congress Street to West Cornell Street in the 1st Aldermanic District.

Minutes note: Ms. Lott, his niece, was the nominator. He served in the military and inspired other family members to do so. His home was a safe haven for the neighborhood and he supported the boy scouts and set an example for many men to emulate and served as a mentor for many children who didn't have fathers. He will be 98 on July 5th. Mr. Marti said it's a 2-block stretch with 3 signs being required and everything is in order. Mr. Harpole moved, seconded by Mr. Baehr. Prevailed 4-1 (Mr. Benson voting "no" as he never heard of him).

231974 03.ResolutionSubstitute resolution assigning the honorary street name "Gloria Ford Gilmer, Ph.D" to West Highland Avenue from North 6th Street to North 8th Street in the 4th Aldermanic District.

Minutes note: Ms. Linda Lucas, the nominator, present with Dr. Gilmore's daughter, Jill, as well as other members of the sorority. Ms. Jill Gilmore said her mom was an active member of Local 212 at MATC and was the first black woman to have her research papers on display at the Library of Congress. She was the first black math instructor at MATC, which was one of her proudest accomplishments and she taught math there for 14 years. It was the most rewarding experience of her life and she loved her students. She failed her entire first class she taught, which was not at MATC, and she then made it her life mission to help her students succeed. Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority has more than 400,000 members and chapters across the globe. They focus on Milwaukee with food, clothing drives and are in their 75th year as a chapter. Barbara Tolls - past president of the local 212 retirees' chapter - Dr. Gilmore was one of her members. Gloria was one of Milwaukee "Hidden Figures" from the movies; she was a leader in math. Lynette McNeely - appeared virtually and is a math major; Dr. Gilmore is an important inspiration for young black women Phil Blank - Dr. Gilmore started Family Math at 20th and Vliet and the strategy was that a parent or adult had to accompany the student for tutoring. Mr. Blank was a math teacher and he shared stories of his past with her. Mr. Marti said 3 street signs are required and the application is in order.
