Minutes note: 5 THEISEN, John, Agent for "Brew City Pizza", Food Dealer License Renewal Application for "Dominos" at 4211 W NORTH Av. (Expires 11/21/2024)
The applicant was present and said that the item on the police report happened across the street and that the victim looked for help at his business.
Individuals in objection:
Roy Evans – 4305 W North Av – said that he lives and works across the street and that he opposes to this license unless major changes are made because there have been numerous issues with garbage and that they just cannot take it anymore. He added that this morning at 2:45 am they were dealing with a delivery among other things. He also explained that he has requested the City to place more garbage cans on his side of the street.
Individuals also present:
Ald. Westmoreland said that he has no Domino’s Pizza in his district but that he has struggled a lot with pizza places as well and asked the witness if the problems comes from customers or the business owner.
Mr. Evans said that it is a combination, that there are other businesses in the area and that they need more receptacles to receive all the garbage coming from all the customers.
Mr. Ellzey (LAS for Ald. Stamper) asked if there are pending orders against this location.
Jumanee Cheatham from DNS said that they have issued orders to this business several times on the last licensing year.
The applicant said that he was not aware of any of these orders and that he believes that the orders were issued to the apartment building. He added that he only received a call once from DNS regarding the dumpster (that did not belong to him at the moment) and moved it to the back of the parking lot. He also said that he owns the building now and that he has paid all the existing fines. He also said that his business is 10% take out and 90% delivery and that he does not agree that his business is the source of the problem. He also mentioned that the garbage bins on the street do not belong to the City but to BID that does not exist anymore.
Ms. Lopez mentioned that the plan of operations said that the cleanup around the premises is daily.
The applicant said that he is willing to do hourly cleanups as suggested by Ald. Westmorelnad which is more than every couple of hours that he discussed with Ald. Stamper.
Ald. Westmoreland moved to amend the plan of operations to do hourly cleanups. There were no objections.
Mr. Ellzey asked the applicant to take care of the BID garbage bins as well so the neighbor does not pick up the garbage and for the garbage across the street.
The applicant said that he does not agree.
Ald. Pratt moved to hold the item to the call of the chair. There were no objections. (Prevailed 5-0)
