230873 01.ResolutionResolution relating to the establishment of the Year 2024 Funding Allocation Plan.

Minutes note: Steve Mahan, Community Block Grants Administration director, gave a presentation and introduced his staff present. There were approximately 40 members of the public present. Luke Knapp present for Pres. Perez, in whose district the meeting was held. Speakers: 1. LIz Franczyk - FAST Fund at MATC. This fund was started 7 years ago to help MATC students with urgent financial needs. The majority of students come from low-income families and lots of federal funding has ended. 2. Bria Burris - former MATC student who received FAST funds and now works for the Social Development Commission (SDC). 3. Brianna Hernandez - Southside Organizing Committee (SOC) summer youth intern. 4. Davieona Davis - SOC summer youth intern. 5. Laura Vazquez - Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation (the hosts of Mexican Fiesta). Main mission it to support Hispanic students going to college through scholarships. This year they supported 16 students and well has had coat and toy drives. 6. Alexis Scroggins - SOC summer youth intern. 7. Jesus Hernandez - supports SOC, he is an independent Medicare sales agent that began his career as a community organizer for SOC. 8. Clarissa Morales - former employee of SOC who now works for the Riverworks Development Corp. She supports SOC. 9. Megan Wanke - Fair Housing Council - the core of their program is enforcement and following up on complaints. 10. Jake Weiler - Director of Housing for the Milwaukee Christian Center; he really supports the work of the Youth Build program. 11. Faryn Benedict - Supports Safe and Sound. 12. JoAnna Bautch - VIA CDC - supports the CDGA Office and thanks the City of Milwaukee for its support. The money has allowed them to expand their work and also do rehab work. 13. Yvonne Walton - mother of 6, one of her daughters is doing Earn and Learn. She supports SOC. 14. Deanne Lawson - Inner Beauty Center - helps women get off the streets and addresses homelessness and addiction. 15. Jacob Rogahn - Latino Chamber of Commerce of Southeast Wisconsin - functions as an alternative bank for minorities. 16. Wendy Weckler - Director of Hope House, thanks the city for its support and hopes that it continues. 17. Alexa Nutile - Woodland Pattern Book Center - supports funding of youth services and especially need funds for elementary-school-age children. 18. Bridget Whitaker - Executive Director of Safe and Sound. 19. Jared Bell - City Champs - a free martial arts program to teach confidence and respect; they serve 3,000 youth in a year. 20. Ezzard Charles White - Founder and Director of One Hope Made Strong (OHMS) - trains young men and women as electricians, plumbers, welders and CAD designers. Meeting adjourned: 7:23 P.M. Linda M.
