   1. Discussion relative to the implementation of Section 113-3 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances.

Minutes note: Present: Ed Ehrlich - Assistant City Attorney, Jeff Osterman - Legislative Reference Bureau, Marcia Lindholm - Dept. of Public Works Mr. Osterman appeared and explained Section 113-3 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances as it relates to the implementation of street renaming and honorary street naming. Ms. Lindholm appeared and advised that the Department of Public Works held a meeting to discuss the implementation of honorary street renaming. She noted that they concluded that they will implement honorary street name requests as follows: a. The color of the sign will be sky blue. b. The size of the sign would be 6 inches tall and 24 inches wide. c. The signs would be paid by the requester at $100 per sign and the city would make and install them or the requester could supply the sign and pay $50 and the City to install them. d. The City would install the honorary sign below the street sign in most cases. Mr. Benson moved that Section 113-3 of the Code of Ordinances be amended to include that hearing notices for honorary street name changes are sent to all residents and property owners when it is to be heard by the Citizen Advisory Committee on the Naming of Public Buildings, Facilities and Streets, seconded by Mr. Gwiazdowski. Prevailed.

050851 12.ResolutionSubstitute resolution authorizing the honorary naming of West Highland Boulevard, from North 27th Street to North 29th Street, as “Dr. R.E. McCrory”.

Minutes note: Present: Yvonne Kemp (Requestor), Dr. R. E. McCrory and Marcia Lindholm, Dept. of Public Works Ms. Lindholm said that two signs will be needed for this request and the cost for the City to fabricate each sign is $100.00. She said if the requestor wants the City to fabricate the signs, the requestor will need to submit a check in the amount of $200 to the Department of Public Works prior to the file being heard by the Public Works Committee. A motion was made by Mr. Harpole and seconded by Mr. Gwiazdowski that this file be recommended for approval. There were no objections.
