Luke Olson (Department of City Development) introduced the annual report on Historic Milwaukee Inc.’s sales of posters and other merchandise based on the Milwaukee City of Neighborhoods poster series.
In early 2015, the City granted permission for the poster images to be used in the book Milwaukee City of Neighborhoods (written by John Curta and published by Historic Milwaukee).
Stacy Swadish commissioned the original poster artist, Jan Kotowicz, to create 11 additional neighborhood posters for the book.
The Common Council approved transferring most remaining inventory of the original posters to Historic Milwaukee and granted limited, nonexclusive rights to reprint designs for additional products.
Proceeds support Historic Milwaukee educational programs in return, Historic Milwaukee provides a reasonable number of posters/products for City use.
