Minutes note: Also Present: Donald Sykes, Mayor's Office. Mr. Sykes advised members of the following strategies relating to the Workforce Development Initiative. Goal is to move from a service organization to planning and development. Creation of Transition Team with four subcommittees -Resource Committee -Business Engagement Committee -Restructure Committee -Economic Development Committee -Future plans to coordinate meetings with the Community Development Grants Administration, HACAM, NEDC with future plans to incorporate other business entities. -Scale back the organization to meet budget realities. -Break down previous structures. Alderman Witkowiak asked about the status of the current clients? Mr. Sykes responded that the organizations training ended in May and June due to lack of funds. The new budget period began in July. The short- term plan is to initiate 90-day interim contracts while the current structure is being reviewed. The long -term goals of developing policies that would look at training on a priority basis. Alderman Witkowski asked how ratings are established? Mr. Sykes responded that the current rating is determined by a 30-day retention. He continued that his goal is to change the rating determination to the success of career development. Alderman Davis requested that this file be held to the call and heard again in 3-months for a progress update.
