Minutes note: Chief Officer for the City of Milwaukee Bernadette Karanja
• City Attorney’s opinion back on 2023 complaint process is not congruent with policies and procedures with Chapter 109 and it needs to be congruent to be presented in front of Counsel. It must be congruent with jurisdictional component and with the position of authority for the approval of Complaint Liaison person.
• Attorney Travis Gresham will be of assistance with reviewing of documentation in time for the September Common Counsel cycle to be heard.
• No final changes were made by Christopher Hillard and recommendation was made to wait until Attorney Travis revision of documentation for the changes.

Minutes note: Commissioner Vice Chair Jacqueline Cook and others
• Position Statement has been created and sent to targeted organizations
• Flyers were reused and updated and posted on websites and social media
• Time line has been moved back because not enough respondents were received
• Time line of July 1st was moved back a little bit, however moving forward with positive results
• Process should be made by applying to City of Milwaukee website and gathered by Equal Rights Specialist Omar Barberena and then distributed to Commissioner’s Selection Committee
• Application data has been centralized and collected by Equal Rights Specialist
• Representation matters and so is equal representation from different professional or personal background
• Consideration for closing applications for September cycle after having about 12 applicants in
• Recommendation will be made to have Commissioner Jamal Washington and Adrienne German be asked to resign due to lack of participation
• Recruitment Committee will be moved to Governance Committee composed by Jessica Boling, William Crowley and Jacqueline Cook with no objection
• Equal Rights Specialist will set up the logistics and communication with Governance Committee and applicants; interviews date/time, resumes, link for virtual interview sessions and others
•I t was brought up that someone with legal experience and language to understand compliance would be beneficial to bring in as a Commissioner volunteer
