Zielinski says that two neighborhood supporters that were present at the last hearing for the application gave an address of a home that Ald. Zielinski says that the applicant testified that he is unaware of graffitti and improper storage on his property, which shows that he is not a responsible property owner. He also said that a beer license for the store would not be good for the area. Mr. Maistelman says that opponents are actually trying to close down the low-income apartment complex by the store and that the opposition is about a bigger issue. Mr. Singh says that he has never been contacted by the police or anyone else regarding the problems with loitering or any other illegal activity at his store. Ald. Zielinski requests that a Department of Neighborhood Services report for 2301 S. Howell Ave. be entered into the record. The committee members refuse to move to make the report part of the record (Rejected Exhibit 1). Ald. Kovac moves to deny based on the issue of concentration of alcohol beverage outlets in the area. Prevailed 2-1. (Ald. Hamilton voting "no" and Ald. Zielinski and Ald. Coggs excused) Ald. Bohl says that he supports the motion for denial, but not on the basis of concentration.
