| 0 | 1. | Resolution | Resolution relating to the establishment of the Year 2024 Funding Allocation Plan.
Minutes note: Steve Mahan, Community Block Grants Administration director gave his presentation and introduced his staff.
There were approximately 30 members of the public present.
Speakers:
1. Toni White - WRTP BIG STEP Chief Operating Officer - would like funding for Commercial Drivers' Licensing support as there is a need and these are family-supporting jobs.
2. Richard Badger - Workforce Development - he also supports Commercial Drivers' Licensing support.
3. Donta Holmes - Safe and Sound - trying to connect with youth and young adults and working on community organizing. Would like more funds aimed at safe driving.
4. James Hiller - Burleigh Street Community Development Corporation - his biggest concern is to develop and invest in safety and perceived safety in any way possible. He would like to create relationships between fledgling businesses and export mentors. He would also like to see group funding and organizations not working in silos as much.
5. Eddie Hatch - Gave members a handout relating to his lawsuit against the city re. the Villard Library.
6. Steven Hunter - supports wellness and nature efforts. He was involved with raising four baby goats.
7. Maurice Madison - Love 4 Kids - he is working in schools and the kids have no extra curriculars, such as home economics, woodworking, etc. He is seeking funding for a safe environment for kids.
8. District Attorney John Chisholm - seeking continuing funding for the Community Partnership Program which works with Safe and Sound and the Southside Organizing Committee. The challenge is the pay raises for the district attorneys means providing their services will cost more.
9. Bria Grant - Unite WI - has worked with the Milwaukee Health Dept and the Dept. of Administration, but the main issue is procuring and accessing funds. Her mental health has been exacerbated working with the city.
10. Gregory Lewis - Pastors United - wants to use funds to educate the community on voting, as well as providing safe and nice house that people can own and rehab houses.
11. Kelly Felder - North Ave. BID #28 Executive Director - wants funds for economic development and underfunded BIDs. In-rem properties fall into decay under city ownership and then the city wants a lot of money from potential owners. She wants the city to plant and maintain flowers in the corridor.
12. Sharon Adams - Asking for economic development in the commercial corridors and to see more jobs and growth in the water sector and the environmental area.
