Substitute resolution determining it necessary to make various nonassessable public improvements at various locations and appropriating funds for these purposes with the City engineering cost estimated to be $290,000 for a total estimated cost of these projects being $1,410,500.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes engineering studies on projects which by City Charter are nonassessable.  After design plans and estimates of costs have been prepared, a resolution authorizing construction will be submitted to the Common Council.  The City cost for engineering these projects is estimated to be $290,000 with the total cost estimated to be $1,410,500.

Body

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that it is necessary and in the public interest to do the following described improvements according to City specifications:

 

1st Aldermanic District

 

W. Custer Ave. at N. Hopkins St. (ST211120172):  Laying concrete sidewalk.  (Nonassessable Reconstruction Paving Fund -- $5,000).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $15,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2012 construction season.

 

4th Aldermanic District

 

St. Paul Ave. Vertical Lift Bridge over the Milwaukee River (BR100100106):  Consultant design services for structural, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical engineering.  (City Share Non-assessable Structure Fund -- $250,000, Additional Funds).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $1,250,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2013-2014 construction season.

 

5th Aldermanic District

 

Alley between W. Capitol Dr., W. Melvina St., N. 80th St., and N. 81st St. (SM495110536):  Sewer work prior to paving.  (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $6,000, Additional Funds).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $9,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2012 construction season.

 

6th Aldermanic District

 

E. Nash St. - N. Fratney St. to a point west (Elimination of Railroad Crossing) (ST211120171):  Paving the roadway with concrete.  Laying a concrete curb and gutter.  Laying concrete sidewalk.  Doing all the necessary grading pertaining to said work.  (Nonassessable Reconstruction Paving Fund -- $10,000).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $50,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2012 construction season.

 

11th Aldermanic District

 

S. 38th St. - W. Morgan Ave. to W. Holt Ave. (SM495110531):  Sewer work prior to paving.  (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $6,000, Additional Funds).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $11,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2011 construction season.

 

14th Aldermanic District

 

Alley between S. Austin St., S. Brisbane Ave., E. Euclid Ave., and E. Oklahoma Ave. (SM495110544):  Sewer work prior to paving.  (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $13,000, Additional Funds).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $15,500.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2012 construction season.

 

15th Aldermanic District

 

N. 26th St. - W. Meinecke Ave. to W. Medford Ave. (including W. Tamarack St.  - W. Fond du Lac Ave. to W. Medford Ave.) (ST211110185):  Laying a curb and gutter.  The total estimated cost for this project is $60,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2011-2012 construction season.

Further Resolved, That all City Departments are authorized to perform engineering, surveys, plan preparation, and determine an estimated cost thereof; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works is authorized to use the funding as specified in the above description of work; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer such funds which are available for this purpose to the appropriate capital Project/Grant accounts.
