On the third Whereas clause $171,400 and on the Resolve clause $857,000 Ald. Witkowski moved to accept technical corrections requested by Ms. Stamps be made to the resolution. Title
Substitute resolution authorizing application of a 2011 Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Federal Emergency Management Agency by the Fire Department.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Fire Department to apply for a 2011 Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Federal Emergency Management Agency.  This resolution does not authorize the expenditure of City funds, and if an award is granted, the Fire Department will make separate application for acceptance of the grant award.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible to apply for grant funds from the Department of Homeland Security - Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grant for assisting the Fire Department in funding various projects, including a fitness and wellness program, a compressor project and various rescue equipment; and
Whereas, This grant would provide a total of $857,000 to provide for the purchase of a compressor unit and rescue equipment, and implementation of a fitness and wellness program for the Fire Department; and
 
Whereas, This grant would require a 20% match in the amount of $171,400, which would be made by the Fire Department; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Fire Department is authorized to apply for a 2011 Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Federal Emergency Management Agency for up to $857,000, to assist the department in funding various projects, including a fitness and wellness program, a compressor project and various rescue equipment.
