Analysis

This resolution directs the installation and construction of certain public improvements which have been determined to be nonassessable by the Commissioner of Public Works.  The City cost of the projects approved by this resolution is estimated to be $13,000.  The total estimated cost of these projects is $62,000.

Body

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted preliminary resolutions determining it necessary and in the public interest to construct nonassessable improvements; and

 

Whereas, Plans, specifications and cost estimates have been prepared for the following described improvements:

 

4th Aldermanic District

 

N. Water St. and E. Erie St. Intersection File Number 100960:  Decorative crosswalks with Street Print XD stamped asphalt.  Work to be undertaken in conjunction with previously approved asphalt resurfacing project (ST211110168).  The construction cost will be donated by Poblocki Paving Corp.  The total estimated cost for this project is $15,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2011 construction season.

 

8th and 12th Aldermanic Districts

 

S. 21st St. - W. Scott St. to W. Mineral St. (ST214110108) File Number 110566:  Install traffic calming devices.  (Developer Paving Fund -- $5,000; Nonassessable Reconstruction Paving Fund -- $3,000, ST211110184).  The total estimated cost for this project is $8,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2011 construction season.

 

11th Aldermanic District

 

S. 60th St. at W. Cold Spring Rd. (Sponsored by the City of Greenfield) (ST211100162) File Number 100724:  Paving the roadway with asphalt.  Laying a concrete curb and gutter.  Laying concrete sidewalk.  Doing all the necessary grading pertaining to said work.  (Nonassessable Reconstruction Paving Fund -- $1,000, Additional Funds).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $7,000.  This project was completed in 2010.

 

S. 63rd St. - W. Eden Pl. to W. Morgan Ave. (SM495110514) File Number 110028:  Sewer work prior to paving.  (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $4,000, Additional Funds).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $32,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2011 construction season.

 

now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized and directed to proceed with said work; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City of Milwaukee accepts the donation from Poblocki Paving Corp. for the cost of the decorative crosswalks with Street Print XD at the intersection of N. Water St. and E. Erie St.; and be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works is authorized to use the funding as specified in the above description of work; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer such funds which are available for this purpose to the appropriate capital Project/Grant accounts.
