Analysis

The code does not currently restrict the hours during which residential in-person solicitation is not permitted.

 

This ordinance prohibits in-person solicitation of residential occupants for commercial or fundraising purposes between 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.

Body

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

 

Part 1. Section 95-15-5 of the code is amended to read:

 

95-15. Door-to-door Solicitation.

 

5. EXEMPTIONS. [[This]]>>Except for the provisions of sub. 6, this<< section does not apply to persons exempted under [[s. 95-1-3]]>>s. 95-1-2<<.

 

Part 2. Section 95-15-6 of the code is renumbered 95-15-7.

 

Part 3. Section 95-15-6 of the code is created to read:

 

6. SOLICITATION PROHIBITED DURING NIGHT-TIME HOURS.  No solicitor or other person may engage in door-to-door in-person solicitation of any residential occupant for any commercial or fundraising purpose between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
