Title
Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a State of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Coastal Management Program Grant, in the 14th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of City Development to apply for, accept and fund a Wisconsin Coastal Management Program Grant from the State of Wisconsin in the amount of $30,000 with a City Share of $15,000 and a Grantor Share of $15,000. The purpose of this grant is to install native vegetation and trailhead amenities along the Kinnickinnic River trail, south of Lincoln Avenue and 1st Street.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”) appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Coastal Management Program, to install native vegetation and trailhead amenities along the Kinnickinnic River trail, south of Lincoln Avenue and 1st Street; and

Whereas, Recent events have brought greater attention to the Kinnickinnic River study area and need for improvements, which culminated in the formation of the Kinnickinnic River Implementation Coalition to create the Kinnickinnic River trail; and

Whereas, City involvement in this grant and aid program will result in a benefit to the City in the form of actions to create a recreational and environmental amenity along the Kinnickinnic River; and

Whereas, The operation of this Wisconsin Coastal Management Program Grant from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012 will cost $30,000 of which, $15,000 (50 percent) will be provided by the City and $15,000 (50 percent) will be provided by the Grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the State of Wisconsin for a Wisconsin Coastal Management Program Grant is authorized and the Department of City Development shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304.81, Milwauk...
