Resolution suspending the activities of the African American Male Unemployment Task Force and extending its period of authority, responsibilities and activities.
Analysis
The African-American Male Unemployment Task Force was created by Resolution File Number 100118, adopted July 7, 2010, which directed that the task force complete its work within 6 months after its first meeting and thereafter be dissolved. This resolution amends Resolution File Number 100118, establishing a suspension of activities for the task force until October 1, 2012, and changing the time period in which the task force is to submit its findings and recommendations to the Common Council to October 1, 2013, after which time the task force will be dissolved.
Body
Whereas, The Common Council created an African-American Male Unemployment Task Force by Resolution File Number 100118, adopted July 7, 2010; and
Whereas, Resolution File Number 100118 directed that the task force submit its findings and recommendations to the Common Council within 6 months of its first meeting, after which time the task force shall be dissolved; and
Whereas, Resolution File Number 101127, adopted February 8, 2011, extended the time that the task force submit its findings and recommendations to the Common Council to September 14, 2011, after which time the task force shall be dissolved; and
Whereas, Recent state legislative actions have had significant effects on local governments and economies, and the full effects of these legislative actions are uncertain at this time; and
Whereas, It is in the best interest of the task force to postpone the continuing work of the body; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the African American Male Unemployment Task Force shall suspend activities until October 1, 2012; and, be it
Further Resolved, That Resolution File Number 100118 shall be amended by deleting the final "Further Resolved clause" and replacing it with the following:
"Further Resolved, The task force shall submit its findings and recommendations for implementation to the Common Council by October 1, 2013 and then be automatically dissolved."
