Resolution expressing appreciation for service to the City by members of the Taxicab Review Board.
Analysis
This resolution expresses the appreciation of the Common Council for the outstanding service and commitment demonstrated by the members of the Taxicab Review Board in the conduct of business on behalf of the City.
Body
Whereas, The Taxicab Review Board was established by Resolution File Number 080563 and charged to meet no fewer than 2 times annually to review conditions and trends in the taxicab industry, and report its findings and recommendations to the Public Safety Committee; and

Whereas, The Taxicab Review Board met 10 times from February 6, 2009, through April 15, 2011, to review and examine conditions and trends in the taxicab industry including comparisons with peer cities across the United States, the relation of taxicab practices and regulation to other modes of public transportation, fare and charge structures, vehicle inspection practices, and ordinance enforcement measures; and

Whereas, Findings and recommendations made by the Taxicab Review Board resulted in the development and passage of legislation to stabilize the taxicab fare and charge structure and to clarify definitions: and

Whereas, In the course of the board’s deliberations, the members of the Taxicab Review Board discussed the inter-relation of taxicab operations and regulation with other public transportation operations including intermodal services, shuttle and limousine service, bus, trolley and other modes of private and subsidized transportation services to the public and recommended the creation of a Public Transportation Review Board; now, therefore, be it
