Title
Substitute resolution authorizing an electric vehicle charging station pilot program.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Administration-Office of Environmental Sustainability to speed up to $35,000 of Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant funding on an electric vehicle charging station pilot program.
It further authorizes the Department of Administration-Office of Environmental Sustainability to enter into agreements with up to 4 businesses or other entities to launch this electric vehicle charging station pilot program, funded entirely through the City’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant.
One charging station in this program may be located in a City-owned parking facility.
Body
Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 091147 on January 20, 2010, accepting and funding the Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) in the amount of $5,839,100; and
Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 100455 on September 21, 2010, authorizing the Department of Administration - Office of Environmental Sustainability to revise the activities of the EECBG from the U.S. Department of Energy in the amount of $5,839,100; and
Whereas, The U.S. Department of Energy is expected to allocate additional competitive grants to cities that have demonstrated initiative in installing electric vehicle infrastructure; and
Whereas, The widespread use of electric vehicles may improve local air quality; and
Whereas, The Department of Administration - Office of Environmental Sustainability proposes to enter into agreements with up to 4 businesses or other entities to install and operate electric vehicle charging stations as part of a pilot program; and
Whereas, The Department of Administration - Office of Environmental Sustainability will work with the City Attorney’s Office ...
