Analysis
This substitute resolution approves the expenditure of $5,000 from the Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account to fund City of Milwaukee development opportunities and promotional and branding materials for the 2011 Spring Convention of the International Council of Shopping Centers in Las Vegas, Nevada, to facilitate neighborhood and retail development in the City of Milwaukee.

Whereas, The Economic Development Committee Fund is to be used to promote the City of Milwaukee's (“City”) economic development programs and attracting new industry to the City; and

Whereas, The 2011 International Council of Shopping Centers Spring Convention will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 22nd through May 25th; and

Whereas, There will be City staff attending the international convention; and

Whereas, Contacts made at this convention may lead to future retail projects in the City; and

Whereas, The current U.S. economy has impacted the retail industry and City staff attendance at the convention will evaluate the effects it may have on the City both currently and in the future; and

Whereas, The appropriation of $5,000 will be beneficial to the City for materials that shall include designated City properties available for redevelopment and development; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that $5,000 is appropriated from the 2011 Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account No. 0001-1310-S123-006300 to a separate Budget Line Account No. 0001-1910-S123-006300 for promotional and marketing materials for the 2011 International Council of Shopping Centers Spring Convention in Las Vegas, ...
