Title

Resolution authorizing the Department of Public Works to expend funds allocated in the 2007 City Budget for the Sanitation Headquarters Modification - Various Sites capital project account.

 

Analysis

 

This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works to expend the remaining account balance of $477,959.78 from the 2007 Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Sanitation Headquarters Modification -Various Sites capital project account for 4 projects with an a total  estimated cost of $455,000. The 2007 Budget included a borrowing authorization in the amount of $2,260,500 for the Department of Public Works Sanitation Headquarters Modification - Various Sites capital project and also included a footnote requiring Common Council approval for expenditures to be made from this account.

 

Body

 

Whereas, The Common Council approved the City of Milwaukee 2007 Budget as Common Council File Number 060757, adopted November 10, 2006, included a Capital Improvement borrowing appropriation in the amount of $2,260,500 for the Department of Public Works’ Sanitation Headquarters Modification - Various Sites capital project (0321-9990-R999-BU11091100); and

 

Whereas, The account (0321-9990-R999-BU11091100) has a remaining balance of $477,959.78; and

 

Whereas, The department has identified the 4 necessary projects with an a total estimated cost of $455,000 that are appropriate to be funded from this account; and  

 

Whereas, The 2007 Budget included a budget footnote requiring that no funds from this account be expended without Common Council approval; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the $477,959.78 remaining balance in the 2007 Department of Public Works' Sanitation Headquarters Modification - Various Sites capital project account (0321-9990-R999-BU11091100) is authorized to be expended on the following 4 projects:

 

1.                     Emergency repair of scales at the Materials Recycling Facility at an estimated cost of $155,000.

 

2.                     A facilities inspection report for the Materials Recycling Facility at an estimated cost of $25,000.

 

3.                     Property improvements at the self-help centers related to the charging of construction debris at an estimated cost  of $60,000,

 

4.                     HVAC and roof repairs at the South 35th Facility at an estimated cost of $215,000.

 

; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller and other appropriate City officers are authorized and directed to take necessary actions to release these appropriations for said project to active status.
