Title

The resolution appropriates $10,000 from the 2010 Economic Development Committee Fund special purpose account to Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc., for Workforce Connection Centers, which help individuals to find employment.
Body
Whereas, Goodwill Workforce Connection Centers provide help to people with disadvantages to find jobs through self-directed training, workshops, job search tools, access to employment resources, and support by Goodwill staff; and

Whereas, Goodwill Workforce Connection Centers employ a dual customer model serving job-seekers as well as providing employers pre-screened job candidates; and

Whereas, During the first 6 months of 2010, Goodwill’s Richards Street Workforce Connection Center served 83% of the number of people projected for the entire year; and

Whereas, Goodwill’s 91st Street Workforce Connection Center opened May 2010 and has served 764 individuals in the first 2 months of operation, 51% of its goal for the year; and

Whereas, It is in the best interests of the City that unemployed citizens with disadvantages obtain the necessary assistance to find jobs; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that $10,000 is appropriated from the 2010 Economic Development Committee Fund special purpose account, 0001-1310-S123-006300, to Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc., for Workforce Connection Centers; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the appropriate City officials are authorized and directed to negotiate and enter into an agreement with Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc., for accepting City funds to be used assisting Workforce Connection ...
