Analysis

This charter ordinance gives the commissioner of city development full authority to provide for the improvement, restoration or mothballing of city-owned habitable neighborhood property, as well as improved neighborhood property identified as special consideration property. 

Body

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

 

Part 1.  Section 7-22-4 of the city charter is created to read:

 

7-22.  Services. 

 

4.  RESTORATION OR MOTHBALLING.  Notwithstanding the other provisions of this section and the provisions of ss. 7-14 and 16-05-1, the commissioner of city development shall have full authority to provide for the improvement, restoration or mothballing of city-owned habitable neighborhood property, as well as improved neighborhood property identified as special consideration property pursuant to s. 304-49-2.  This authority includes the authority to publish invitations for bids for public works under s. 7-14.

 

Part 2.  This is a charter ordinance and shall take effect 60 days after its passage and publication, unless within such 60 days a referendum petition is filed as provided in s. 66.0101(5), Wis. Stats., in which event this ordinance shall not take effect until submitted to a referendum and approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon.
