Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the 2010 U.S. Homeland Security Booking Exchange Project Supplemental grant.

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept and fund a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Booking Exchange Project supplemental grant through the State of Wisconsin, Office of Justice Assistance, pursuant to the U.S. Homeland Security Grant Program, in the amount of $20,750. The purpose of this supplemental grant is to enable the Milwaukee Police Department to provide additional data extracts from various Tiburon databases to populate the State of Wisconsin’s Justice Gateway. This is part of an information sharing initiative with other law enforcement agencies.

Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through the State of Wisconsin, Office of Justice Assistance; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 3/5/10 to 9/30/10 would cost $20,750 of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the State of Wisconsin, Office of Justice Assistance is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2010 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: Homeland Security Booking Exchange Supplemental Grant.
