Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to provide reimbursement of actual costs for services and items provided by the City for the development and implementation of traffic mitigation measures involving a communication system interconnecting downtown traffic signals to a network server in conjunction with the reconstruction of the Marquette Interchange

Body
Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) has started the reconstruction of I-43 from West Wells Street to West North Avenue and a segment of I-94 from North 13th Street to North 25th Street; and

Whereas, WISDOT will be starting construction of I-94/794 from North 13th Street to North Plankinton Avenue and I-43 from West St. Paul Avenue to West Wells Street in 2006; and

Whereas, Construction activity on the Marquette Interchange is anticipated to result in the diversion of traffic on the local street system during this project due to long term local street closures and lane and ramp closures on the freeway; and

Whereas, Preliminary approval has been received from WISDOT along with Project Agreements to be executed by the City of Milwaukee, to provide reimbursement of actual costs for necessary services and items provided by the City for the development and implementation of traffic mitigation measures involving a communication system interconnecting downtown traffic signals to a network server; and
