Title
Resolution authorizing the acceptance and expenditure of a grant from EMPLOY MILWAUKEE to reimburse the City of Milwaukee for eligible costs associated with on-the-job training of certain employees.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works to accept and expend a cash grant from Employ Milwaukee in an amount of up to $200,000. The purpose of the grant is to reimburse the City of Milwaukee for eligible costs associated with on-the-job training for certain City of Milwaukee employees, especially those in job titles requiring a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Body
Whereas, Employ Milwaukee supports workforce development within Milwaukee; in part, by financially supporting employers in various ways, including those who conduct on-the-job training.; and

Whereas the Department of Public Works has a variety of family supporting jobs, many of which require a CDL, and on-the-job training is essential to ensure these employees are properly trained to operate a variety of CDL equipment; and

Whereas, the grant agreement between the City of Milwaukee and Employ Milwaukee considers costs of training employees in the Department of Public Works, particularly those employees being trained to operate CDL equipment, be it therefore

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Department of Public Works shall accept this grant with terms substantially similar to the agreement attached without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2024 Special Revenue - Grant and Aid Projects the following amounts for the program/project titled Employ Milwaukee On The Job Training:
