Title
Substitute motion approving the King's Academy proposed charter school contract.
Analysis
On January 20, 2010, the Common Council authorized the King's Academy to operate a Milwaukee Common Council charter school, as recommended by the Charter School Review Committee. This motion approves a 5-year charter school contract, which is attached to this file, and directs the appropriate City officials to execute the contract.
Body
Whereas, On January 20, 2010, the Common Council by motion approved the recommendation of the Charter School Review Committee to grant charter school status to the King's Academy and authorized King's Academy to operate a Milwaukee Common Council charter school beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, subject to subsequent Common Council approval of the negotiated charter school contract; and
Whereas, The City attorney has successfully negotiated a proposed 5-year charter school contract with King's Academy, which is attached to this file; now, therefore
It is moved, By the Common Council, that the Common Council approves the proposed charter school 5-year contract submitted by the City Attorney and directs the appropriate City officials to execute the contract substantially in the form attached to this file, with such revisions as may be required by the City Attorney.
