Analysis
This resolution amends the contract with outside legal counsel for provision of legal services to the City of Milwaukee for the Equal Rights Division complaint and any related state or federal court litigation subsequently filed by former Assistant City Attorney Naomi Gehling. This resolution further approves expenditure of an additional $17,500 from the City Attorney’s Office Counsel Expert Witness Special Purpose Account for the remaining balance for provision of those services.

Whereas, On January 31, 2022, former Assistant City Attorney Naomi Gehling filed an Equal Rights Division complaint against the Office of the City Attorney; and

Whereas, On May 10, 2022, the Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 212035, authorizing the Office of the City Attorney to retain outside legal counsel to provide legal services to the City of Milwaukee for the Equal Rights Division complaint and any related state or federal court litigation subsequently filed by former Assistant City Attorney Naomi Gehling; and

Whereas, The contract with retained outside counsel requires an amendment to pay the remaining balance for these legal services; now, therefore, be it
