Title

Substitute resolution determining it necessary to make various nonassessable public improvements at various locations and appropriating funds for these purposes with the City engineering cost estimated to be $75,000 for a total estimated cost of these projects being $1,450,000.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes engineering studies on projects which by City Charter are nonassessable.  After design plans and estimates of costs have been prepared, a resolution authorizing construction will be submitted to the Common Council.  The City cost for engineering these projects is estimated to be $75,000 with the total cost estimated to be $1,450,000.

Body

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that it is necessary and in the public interest to do the following described improvements according to City specifications:

 

3rd Aldermanic District

 

N. Bremen St. - E. Garfield Ave. to E. North Ave. (SM495240014) Relaying combined sewer. (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $15,000). The total estimated cost of this project including the requested amount is $104,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2024 construction season.

 

E. Garfield Ave. - N. Bremen St. to N. Weil St. (SM495240015) Relaying combined sewer. (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $15,000). The total estimated cost of this project including the requested amount is $180,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2024 construction season.

 

6th Aldermanic District

 

N. Dr. William Finlayson St. - 550’ +/- South of W. Vienna Ave. to W. Vienna Ave. (SM495240013) Relaying storm sewer. (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $15,000). The total estimated cost of this project including the requested amount is $171,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2024 construction season.

 

6th Aldermanic District and the Village of Whitefish Bay

 

N. Santa Monica Blvd. - N. Wilson Dr. to E. Hampton Rd. (Sponsored by the Village of Whitefish Bay) (ST211240137)  Asphalt pavement resurfacing, replace curb and gutter, sidewalk and driveway approaches where necessary, sodding, and grading. (Nonassessable Reconstruction Paving Fund -- $10,000). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $25,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2024 construction season.

 

12th Aldermanic District

 

S. 9th St. - W. Greenfield Ave. to W. Washington St. (ST211230135) Concrete pavement reconstruction, replace all curb and gutter, replace sidewalk and driveway approaches where necessary, sodding, and grading. (Nonassessable Reconstruction Paving Fund -- $15,000 additional funding). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $815,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2025-26 construction season.

 

City Wide

 

2022 Speed Hump Projects (ST211220200) Engineering and signage installation for speed humps. (Nonassessable Reconstruction Paving Fund -- $5,000).   The total estimated cost of this project including the requested amount is $155,000.  These funds are to close out the project.

Further Resolved, That all City Departments are authorized to perform engineering, surveys, plan preparation, and determine an estimated cost thereof; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works is authorized to use the funding as specified in the above description of work; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to transfer such funds which are available for this purpose to the appropriate capital Project/Grant accounts.
