Resolution authorizing the proper City officials to execute an agreement between the City of Milwaukee and the Village of Shorewood for the continued sale of water at wholesale.
Analysis
This Resolution authorizes City officials to execute an agreement for wholesale water service to the Village of Shorewood, an existing customer of the utility.
Body
Whereas, The Village of Shorewood (at the time known as East Milwaukee) has been a valued wholesale customer of Milwaukee Water Works since 1903; and
Whereas, A renewed agreement for wholesale water service was executed in 1934; and
Whereas, A renewed agreement for wholesale water service was executed in 1964; and
Whereas, A renewed agreement for wholesale water service was executed in 1997; and
Whereas, The 1997 water supply agreement between the City of Milwaukee and the Village of Shorewood has expired and is in need of updating; and
Whereas, Despite the expiration of the most recent agreement, the Milwaukee Water Works has a continuing obligation to provide water service to its existing customer; now, therefore be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to execute the Agreement between the City of Milwaukee and the Village of Shorewood for the Purchase of Water at Wholesale in substantially the same form as the agreement attached to this file; and be it
Further Resolved, That the Milwaukee Water Works shall file, with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, a fully executed copy of the agreement.
