Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to install a new traffic control signal at the intersection of West Bolivar Avenue and South 13th Street at a total estimated cost of $61,000, with 100% of those funds to be reimbursable from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. 

Body

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, in reconstructing the I-94 North-South Freeway, will be closing the Layton Avenue bridge over I-94 for at least 6 months; and

 

Whereas, The bridge closure will cause an increase in traffic on North 13th Street and the intersection of West Bolivar Avenue and North 13th Street will likely warrant the installation of a traffic signal; and

 

Whereas, The total estimated cost of installing a traffic signal at the intersection is $61,000; and

 

Whereas, Common Council File #081338 authorized execution of a Project Agreement (Project ID 1030-20-99) between the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Milwaukee to provide 100% reimbursement of actual costs for necessary services and items provided by the city for local street vehicular traffic impact mitigation measures in conjunction with the Mitchell Interchange and I-94 North/South Corridor construction; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized to install a new traffic control signal at the intersection of West Bolivar Avenue and South 13th Street.
