Analysis

Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a project agreement titled “Cost Sharing Memo of Understanding Between the City of Milwaukee and the Village of West Milwaukee” for the cost sharing of construction for traffic calming on S. 38th St. in the 8th Aldermanic District with a City of Milwaukee share of $35,000.

Body

Whereas, the Village of West Milwaukee and the City of Milwaukee wish to address reckless driving on S. 38th St.; and

 

Whereas, This project is included in the Department of Public Works Local Paving Program; and

 

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee and Village of West Milwaukee share jurisdiction ownership of the roadway and will share the construction costs; and

 

Whereas, The Village of West Milwaukee will be the lead agency for construction; and

 

Whereas; The Village of West Milwaukee, pending Council approval, has agreed to undertake the construction work with the Village of West Milwaukee paying for the portion within the Village limits for all construction expenses; and

 

Whereas; The City of Milwaukee and Village of West Milwaukee have agreed to the scope of work and retain all responsibilities to their roadways; and

 

Whereas; Any cost overruns and/or changes in scope shall be approved by the Department of Public Works and the Village of West Milwaukee with costs divided based on jurisdictional boundaries; and

 

Whereas, City of Milwaukee design oversight was approved in File Number 231463; and

 

Whereas, This project is programmed for construction in 2024; and

 

Whereas, The construction cost will be included in a future resolution; and therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public works is hereby authorized to execute the project agreement titled “Cost Sharing Memo of Understanding Between the City of Milwaukee and the Village of West Milwaukee” for the cost sharing of construction for traffic calming of S. 38th St. copies of which are attached; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That minor changes to the memo of understanding which do not change its intent are hereby approved.
