Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of City Development to issue an Exclusive Right to Negotiate to Milwaukee Luther King Economic Development Corporation, allowing it a period of time to seek WHEDA financing.
Body
Whereas, Subsequent to the adoption of File No. 161082, the properties at 3104, 3116 and 3120 North Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive were combined into one property known as 3116 North Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”) owns the property at 3116 North Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive (the “Property”); and

Whereas, The Department of City Development (“DCD”) advertised the Properties on its website and through MLS via Requests for Proposals; and

Whereas, DCD received multiple proposals and DCD, in its collaboration with the Bronzeville Advisory Committee, selected Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation (the “Proposed Buyer”); and

Whereas, Proposed Buyer, or assignee, wishes to acquire the Property to construct an affordable housing development and its financing for acquisition and development of the Properties involves Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (“WHEDA”) Low Income Housing Tax Credits; and

Whereas, Proposed Buyer is seeking Board of Zoning Appeals (“BOZA”) approval for a special use permit and dimensional variance for Proposed Buyer’s development; and

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee’s (“Common Council”) approval is contingent upon Proposed Buyer obtaining BOZA approval of a special use permit and dimensional variance for Proposed Buyer’s development; and
