Title

Resolution approving a Lease between Ahmad Properties, Inc., as landlord, and the City of Milwaukee, as tenant, for 6001 West Capitol Drive, for election-related purposes for the April 2024 primary and November 2024 general elections, in the 2nd Aldermanic District.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee to enter into a lease with the owner of 6001 West Capitol Drive so that the City, as a short-term tenant, may use the parcel for election-related purposes for 2024.

Body

Whereas, To better serve the community, the City of Milwaukee (“City”) utilizes a number of early voting sites across the City, prior to an election; and

 

Whereas, The City Election Commission chooses to provide a larger early voting site on the north side of the City to meet early voting demands in 2024; and

 

Whereas, The Spring general election will take place on April 2, 2024 and the Fall general election will take place on November 5, 2024; and

 

Whereas, The City Election Commission would like to lease the property at 6001 West Capitol Drive from Ahmad Properties, Inc., on a short-term basis for election-related purposes for the Spring and Fall 2024 primary and general elections; and

 

Whereas, Ahmad Properties, Inc. and the City’s Department of City Development negotiated the Lease that was submitted to this file to span 18 months that covers the Spring and Fall 2024 primary and general elections; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the 18-month Lease, as submitted to this file, is hereby approved, and the City and its representatives are authorized to enter into the Lease on terms and conditions materially in conformance therewith and to take such actions, as may be needed, to effectuate the terms of the Lease and this resolution.
