Title
Resolution relative to the acceptance and funding of the 2024 Maternal and Child Health Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

Analysis
Resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept, and fund the Maternal & Child Health block grant, including the Strong Baby program and the City’s role in Fetal & Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services in the amount of $755,214 with a City share of $323,663 and a grantor share of $431,551. The funding will provide support for community outreach and education and public health strategy building as well as data analysis on maternal & child health in Milwaukee.

Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to provide assessment and analysis of maternal and child health as well as community outreach and education on maternal & child health; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant program from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024 will cost $755,214 comprised of $431,551, or 57%, grantor share and $323,663, or 43%, City share; now, therefore, be it;

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

Further Resolved, that the Commissioner of Health or their designee is authorized to execute the grant agreement for these funds; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent account of the 2024 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled Maternal & Child Health:
