Title
Resolution relating to acceptance and funding of a Ready to Read Grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Public Library to accept and fund a Ready to Read Grant project from the United States Department of Education in the amount of $241,250. The purpose of the project is to provide coaching and workshops for early childhood educators, and family programs that engage parents and children in fun, meaningful learning activities.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the United States Department of Education to provide coaching and workshops for early childhood educators, and family programs that engage parents and children in fun, meaningful learning activities; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 08/16/23 to 07/30/24 would cost $241,250 of which $241,250 (100%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Public Library shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2023 Special Revenue--Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled Ready to Read Grant:
