Title

Resolution authorizing the installation of cellular network equipment at 749 West State Street.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee to enter into a contract with AT&T to install cellular hardware at the Police Administration Building at 749 West State Street for improved coverage and capacity of First Net and LTE cellular networks.

Body

Whereas, FirstNet is a nationwide wireless broadband network dedicated to use by first responders and established by the federal government in 2012; and

Whereas, in 2017 AT&T was awarded a 25-year contract to operate FirstNet, AT&T constructed FirstNet between 2018 to 2023, and AT&T will continue to maintain and improve FirstNet through the term of the contract, ending in 2042; and

Whereas, the City of Milwaukee desires to improve FirstNet and LTE cellular network coverage and capacity to serve its own first responders and those visiting from other jurisdictions for routine business and during planned and unplanned emergency events; and

Whereas, AT&T has proposed the installation of equipment within the Police Administration Building at 749 West State Street to improve FirstNet and LTE cellular network coverage and capacity within the facility solely at their expense and at no cost to the City of Milwaukee; and now therefore be it

Resolved, by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the proper City officers are authorized to enter into an agreement with AT&T for the installation of FirstNet and LTE network equipment in substantially the same form as the contract attached to this file.
