This resolution authorizes an agreement between Milwaukee Public Schools and the Wisconsin Historical Society to place a historical marker outside the City-owned property of North Division High School.
Body
Whereas, North Division High School, located at 1011 West Center Street, is owned by the City; and
Whereas, The Wisconsin Historical Society - Programs & Outreach Division, is a State of Wisconsin government agency, with the goal of facilitating public participation in the preservation of buildings significant in the history and culture of the city; and
Whereas, North Division High School has historical relevance to the Milwaukee Fair Housing Marches of 1967-1968; and
Whereas, The Wisconsin Historical Society has proposed placing a historical marker outside North Division High School to commemorate its historical significance; and
Whereas, The Wisconsin Historical Society is responsible for the funding and maintenance of the historical marker at no cost to the City; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Historical Marker Easement & Maintenance Agreement (North Division High School Project) in Exhibit A attached to this file is approved; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the proper City officials are authorized and directed to execute an agreement to carry out this purpose.
