Analysis
This ordinance provides the department of neighborhood services with the authority to inspect properties and enforce the building and zoning code at properties owned or managed by the housing authority of the city of Milwaukee.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1. Section 200-01-2-p is renumbered to 200-01-2-r

Part 2. Section 200-01-2-p and q of the code is created to read:

200-01. Department of Neighborhood Services.
2. FUNCTIONS, POWERS AND DUTIES.
p. To monitor resident complaints, inspect properties, and enforce the provisions of the building and zoning code for properties owned or managed by the housing authority of the city of Milwaukee.

q. To prepare reports regarding the department’s oversight of properties owned or managed by the housing authority of the city of Milwaukee, as provided in par. p, and to provide them to the mayor and common council annually.

Part 3. Section 200-32-4 of the code is amended to read:

200-32. Permit Fees.
4. GOVERNMENTAL UNITS. Where the effect of requiring any fee provided in s. 200-33 would be to cause a charge to the city of Milwaukee, the Milwaukee board of school directors, [[the housing authority]] or the redevelopment authority, the fee shall not be charged.

Part 4. This ordinance shall take effect January 1, 2024.
