Analysis

This resolution authorizes settlement of the lawsuit entitled Dombanee Lincoln (Guardian of Dennis King, Deceased) v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Milwaukee County Circuit Court Case No. 21-CV-3502 for the total amount of $50,000.00.

Body

Whereas, Plaintiff, Dombanee Lincoln (Guardian of Dennis King, Deceased) has filed a state tort claim against the City and Milwaukee Police Department Officers Kurt Meyle, Mark Lindstrum, and telecommunication employees Bonnie Muzia and Pamela Krantz. 

 

Whereas, Counsel for the parties have reached an agreement to settle the above-referenced lawsuit for a total amount of $50,000.00 subject to approval by the Common Council; and

 

Whereas, The City Attorney recommends and the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee deems it expeditious and just to settle this lawsuit; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officers be and hereby are authorized and directed to issue a City check in the amount of $50,000.00, payable to the order of Gregory R. Wright Law Offices, S.C. Client Trust Account, 50 West Montello Street, P.O. Box 280, Montello, WI 53949-0280, as soon as practicable, said amount to be charged to the Damages and Claims Fund, Account No. 636506-0001-1490-2632-S118; and be it

 

Further Resolved, that for and in consideration of the above-referenced payments, the plaintiff, by their representatives, and their attorneys, will provide to the City a release of any and all claims arising out of or in any way related to this incident.
