Title
Resolution approving the Regional Hazardous Materials Response System Services contract between the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs-Division of Emergency Management and the City of Milwaukee for 2023-2025.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Fire Department the extension of the previous contract with the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs-Division of Emergency Management that operated for a 24-month period from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2023. The agreement allows the Milwaukee Fire Department to provide Regional Hazardous Response System Services within an area identified geographically by the agreement. The department has been providing these services since the adoption of Common Council Resolution File Number 941618, and as extended by subsequent Common Council Files since that date. Under the terms of the amended contract, the City will be eligible for stand-by costs of up to $250,211.77 annually.

Whereas, 1991 Wisconsin Act 104 authorized the State Emergency Response Board (SERB) to contract with no fewer than 7 public entities with Regional Emergency Response Teams to assist in emergency responses to Level A releases in a region of the state designated by the SERB; and

Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 941618, adopted February 14, 1995, directed the Fire Department to enter into an agreement with the SERB to provide these services within and area identified geographically by the agreement; and
