This resolution authorizes the City Clerk to expend up to $10,000 from the Community and Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account for Bronzeville Week, to be held from August 5th to August 12th, 2023.
Body
Whereas, The Community and Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account is used to promote the City’s economic development programs; and
Whereas, The Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District is a City of Milwaukee redevelopment initiative inspired by Milwaukee’s original Bronzeville District of the early and mid 1900’s; and
Whereas, Bronzeville Week has been established as an official City event (Common Council File Number 170255) and August 5-12 has been designated as Bronzeville Week for 2023 (Common Council File Number 220621); and
Whereas, Bronzeville Week is a vibrant celebration of African American culture, history, art, and entertainment; and
Whereas, Bronzeville Week showcases local businesses, provides opportunities for local vendors, and furthers the economic development of the District; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Clerk is authorized to expend up to $10,000 from the 2023 Community and Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account No. 0001-1310-S123-006300 to support Bronzeville Week.
