Analysis
Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works and Comptroller to execute a State Municipal Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming, design, and construction of traffic signal improvements under the Carbon Reduction Program at 14 intersections in various Aldermanic Districts and to set up funds for design engineering review at an estimated cost of $15,000 with estimated City share of $15,000. This resolution also authorizes the Comptroller to establish and transfer funds to the appropriate accounts for the project. The total estimated cost of this project is $841,000 with an estimated grantor share of $660,800 and a City share of $180,200. Construction funds for this project will be included in future resolutions.

Whereas, The corridors of East/West Locust Street, East/West North Avenue, and North/South Doctor Martin Luther King Junior Drive were identified as being congested corridors with historical average daily traffic volumes of over 22,000 vehicles per day and also experience non-recurring delays from incidents on I-43 and special events in downtown Milwaukee; and

Whereas, Many intersections within the corridors experience a high frequency and severity of crashes and all three corridors are on the City’s Pedestrian High Injury Network; and
