Body
Whereas, On March 31, 2019, MPD Officer John Derek Kitts was attempting to join an active pursuit and struck the plaintiffs’ vehicle at a high rate of speed at the intersection of Good Hope Road and Sherman Blvd. Plaintiffs had the green light and the officer entered the intersection against the red light. Plaintiffs were trapped in their vehicle and had to be extricated by jaws of life. Both plaintiffs sustained severe permanent injuries and damages as a result of the accident.

Whereas, Counsel for the parties have reached agreement to settle the above-referenced lawsuit for a total amount of $435,000.00 subject to approval by the Common Council; and

Whereas, The City Attorney recommends and the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee deems it expeditious and just to settle this lawsuit; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officers be and hereby are authorized and directed to issue a City check in the amount of $185,000.00, payable to the order of Janisha Nelson and Romanucci & Blandin, LLC Client Trust Account, and $250,000.00 payable to the order of Darryl Nelson and Romanucci & Blandin, LLC Client Trust Account, 321 North Clark Street, Suite 900, Chicago, IL 60654 as soon as practicable, said amount to be charged to the Damages and Claims Fund, Account No. 0001-1490-S118-006300; and be it
