Substitute resolution authorizing acceptance of funding from the Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services for the Mighty Small Moments program.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Administration’s Office of Early Childhood Initiatives (OECI) to accept, a $100,000 grant from the Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services to fund the Mighty Small Moments program with a City share of $0 and a grantor share of $100,000. The purpose of the grant is to fund OECI’s Mighty Small Moments program, which works to ensure access to literacy and language-rich environments for families with children between the ages of 0-3 years old.

Whereas, The Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services is a government agency that services Milwaukee County; and

Whereas, The Department of Health and Human Services has awarded the Department of Administration’s (DOA) Office of Early Childhood Initiatives (OECI) $100,000 for the purpose of supporting OECI’s Mighty Small Moments program; and

Whereas, OECI’s Mighty Small Moments program works to ensure access to literacy and language-rich environments for families with children between the ages of 0-3; and

Whereas, Funds from the Department of Health and Human Services will be used to purchase materials, furniture and other supplies to outfit spaces for the Mighty Small Moments program; and

Whereas, Funds from the Department of Health and Human Services will cover project operation costs from April 1, 2023 through December 1, 2024, which will be provided as the grantor share; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the DOA’s Office of Early Childhood Initiatives is authorized to accept funding from Milwaukee County’s Department of Health and Human Services; and, be it
