Substitute resolution authorizing the Department of Employee Relations to extend the contract for voluntary benefits for City employees
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Employee Relations (DER) to extend the initial contract term with MetLife for an additional two years for the provision of voluntary benefits for City employees.
Body
Whereas, Partnering with MetLife allows the City to utilize a single vendor for the administration of voluntary benefits; and
Whereas, Voluntary benefits are an important way to supplement core benefit offerings, address additional employee needs and give employees the opportunity to tailor a benefit package that meets their specific circumstances; and
Whereas, MetLife has been diligent in working with the DER to address issues, determine steps for resolution and add measures to mitigate future problems; and
Whereas, MetLife continues to be a reliable partner with the City in providing good customer service and benefits to employees; and
Whereas, The initial contract term with MetLife ends December 31, 2023 and MetLife has agreed to hold rates flat for the City’s current selection of voluntary benefits for the duration of the contract extension; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the DER is authorized to extend the current contract with MetLife to provide voluntary benefits for an additional two years ending December 31, 2025.
