Resolution relating to acceptance and funding of a supplemental grant award increasing the 2020 Operation Legend grant amount.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a supplemental grant award as part of the 2020 Operation Legend grant from the Wisconsin Department of Justice in the amount of $475,000 with a city share of $0 and a grantor share of $475,000. The supplemental grant award increases the existing grant from $1,347,142 to $1,822,142 to support and enhance investigation of violent firearms offenses and offenders. 

Body

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #16.738, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Justice to support and enhance investigation of violent firearms offenses and offenders; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 2/1/2021 to 9/30/2023 would cost $1,822,142 of which, $0 would be provided by the city and $1,822,142 (100%) would be provided by the grantor; now therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2021 Special Revenue - Grant and Aid Projects the following amounts for the program/project titled 2020 Operation Legend:

2.  Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

 

3.  Establish the necessary City Share Project Values; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Police Department, which is authorized to:

 

1.                     Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant

budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;

 

2.                     Transfer funds within the project budget as long as the amount expended for each

specific purpose does not exceed the amount authorized by the budget by 10 percent.
