This resolution directs the Office of Violence Prevention to work with the Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation and the Department of Public Works on possible programming for Healing Spaces and City parks.
Body
Whereas, The Adopted 2023 City Budget includes Amendment 10, a footnote directing the Office of Violence Prevention to work with the Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation and the Department of Public Works on possible programming for Healing Spaces and City parks; and

Whereas, The Healing Spaces Initiative, under the direction of the Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation, helps residents build relaxing natural environments on available City-owned vacant lots while eliminating blighted spaces and engaging residents; and

Whereas, The Office of Violence Prevention funds programs to establish Healing Spaces at various locations in the city; and

Whereas, It is expected that collaboration between the Office of Violence Prevention, the Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation and the Department of Public Works on possible programming for Healing Spaces and City parks will increase the availability of Healing Spaces and reduce violence; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Office of Violence Prevention is directed to work with the Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation and the Department of Public Works on possible programming for Healing Spaces and City parks; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Office of Violence Prevention shall report to the Common Council on programming for Healing Spaces ...
